The Pawfect Pet ~ NM & CS

Why does Beverly Hills, Michigan not have a dog shelter? What if all pet stores sold both cats and dogs every day? Yes, dogs sometimes are harder to have every day. However, if people wanted a dog, then they could get it any day of the week, and not just during special events or on the weekends. That would be really good for all animals.

Some pet stores don't have much space, but they could still sell dogs. According to Michigan Radio there are about 5,000 stray dogs in Detroit. Pet stores could adopt stray dogs, have BIGGER SALES, and specialize in smaller, cute dogs, so dogs could find homes faster. People might come from all over Michigan to come and get the cutest dogs. So the benefit to having a dog shelter or having pet stores adopt some of the stray dogs in Detroit would make a huge difference. More dogs would soon have a home!!!!

Schools around Beverly Hills could raise money to help pet stores make an area to sell dogs. Schools could have bake sales or ask for donations at restaurants. The pet stores would also make more money by the selling dogs, and that extra money could go to the animals.

Almost Home is a shelter on Southfield Road nearby. They have dogs and cats up for adoption.  Almost Home is a very good dog shelter that is recommended by many Beverly Hills families. The Michigan Humane Society is also recommended. When you donate to the Michigan Humane Society they get 10% of the money you give and 90% goes to the animals and that's the same with Almost Home.

Have you ever been to a dog shelter and adopted a dog? "Yes, I have owned 4 dogs and they have all been from dog shelters. They were all from the Michigan Humane Society. Says Annika. What was it like fostering a dog?  "Well, it's really fun and I think that it is good for the dog by showing them that not all humans are bad.” she says. All the people that help out at the Michigan Humane Society don't get paid, they are just volunteers, and when I go there the dogs don't have really big cages, so I feel bad for them but it makes me feel good when I get to play with them.”  Please consider adopting a dog or cat today!
